this is the second venture using the wooden portions that we saved a couple of months ago after our neighbor had his tree lessen. I’ve decided to use wooden slices again and this time to make some thing fairly extraordinary – a flower/tree. I need to admit, this venture took many turns. I had no clear inspiration after I first started out what I wanted to make and saved changing and adjusting things as I moved alongside. What I did understand was once that I wanted to use some of this wood and try to upcycle substances i’ve piled up in the storage, waiting to be put to a couple ingenious use.
For this wooden slice flower/tree undertaking, I additionally used one of the leftover wooden pickets that we saved after DIYing our fence earlier this year. As a basic rule, I are trying to not purchase new substances/instruments until I feel like I haven’t any choice and i try to use as so much as can of what I have already got readily available. For this challenge, i ended up purchasing yarn and a circle template; the whole thing else came from the garage. At the finish of it, what got here out was quite high-quality – a flower made using upcycled leftover fence pickets and timber slices, plus yarn and paint. Listed here are the steps.
If you have already got pre-reduce wooden slices, proceed to step four; otherwise follow steps 1-three to cut your timber slices. See my earlier challenge for photographs of those first steps.
Now, time to paint. I used the leftover paint samples we have already got. I wanted to do a ‘worn out’ appear and i complete that this fashion:
once you are pleased with how the board appears, it’s time to glue the wooden slices on. I used gorilla glue here considering the fact that the wood glue would now not stick in view that I already painted over the timber.
that is the place it will get tricky…Once more. I idea that i’d be finished once I glued the timber slices on, however I wasn’t extremely joyful how the undertaking became out… It looked too simple and bland. After so much consideration, I decided to take a look at using some yarn to make it pop some more. At first, I was once going to make use of the yarn on top of the timber slices, but that didn’t appear just right in any respect! Then, as I was once making an attempt distinct things, I made up our minds to wrap it round every wooden slice and the effect was significantly better.
I determined to painted over the wood slices in the flower petals and stem with one of the most latex paint samples I had. Once dried, I used exceptional color paints and a brush to color circles over utilizing the template I bought. I began with the larger outer circle, then labored my manner in. By the way, the inconsistency in painted circle traces is intentional. 🙂 lastly, I determined to use some wire I had and do the equal wrapping process I did in variant one. It provides volume and makes the shapes stand out some more.
3 And here is the effect!
