I took this hutch straight out of the 70’s and gave it a "glow-up!"
this is what I began with! My patron bought this off of FB marketplace for $50 and desired me to transform it into a farmhouse variety cupboard for her. The drawers had been here, I had simply already taken them out. First thing I needed to do used to be eliminate all of the doors, drawers and glass inserts. Once that was done, I bagged up the entire hardware and started to scuff sand the complete piece with 220 grit sandpaper. All in all, the scuff sanding must take 20-half-hour at most.
After I got completed sanding it and wiping it down outside, it was time to bring it inside of! This piece used to be large and heavy and took up my entire dining room! I used sawhorses to lay it on its back to make it less difficult to work on. The subsequent thing I needed to do was once to top the complete piece – the entire outside, the doors, drawers and the within of the highest half.
When i’m in between coats of priming or painting, I retailer my brush in a ziploc baggie so it would not dry out and so i don’t spend hours cleaning the brush out a zillion times!
Drawers are primed and able to be painted!
here is that this beast of a piece laying on its again with one coat of primer on it!
I determined to work on the within of the cupboard first, so I taped off some crucial areas to make it easier on myself. I did two coats of normal Finishes Persian Blue Milk Paint on the within of the hutch.
I utilized two coats of normal Finishes antique White Milk Paint to the relaxation of the hutch, together with the hardware, and then lightly distressed the main points of the piece with 150 grit sandpaper to make those elements really stand out.
right here it’s, a fabulously farmhouse hutch! It took a little bit time and sweat fairness but this glow up used to be a success! My patron uses this to display all her Rae Dunn!
