Have you ever observed that antique road maps are frequently published in festive shades? That is the roads are published in purple, the rural regions in inexperienced and the background in white. This makes them outstanding for Christmas crafting, inside the past I’ve made splendid colorful rosettes out of old maps to decorate my domestic for the holiday season (see here). This time I have decided to make some tabletop Christmas trees for my mantle with the maps.
If you haven’t any vintage avenue maps, you could normally choose them up very affordably from charity/thrift stores. Or simply ask some aged household, they regularly have stashes of obsolete road maps.
Open up the road map after which using a rotary cutter and mat cut up the map.
If you comply with the fold lines of the map you must become with a stack of identical sized sheets of map.
Next, you want to attach a spine onto the stack of maps to create a map e book.
Turn the map e book over and fold down the primary web page from the top right nook to the center spine.
Next, fold once more along the diagonal to the middle spine. You will be aware that a piece stands out from the bottom of the ebook. Just fold this beneath.
Carry on folding each web page inside the map book the same manner.
Then glue the two ends together.
0 Next, make a star topper with gold paper and a toothpick. Simply stick the topper into the top of the folded tree.
1 Finish off the map Christmas bushes by way of sticking them to a cotton reel wrapped in velvet ribbon. For greater images visit the weblog hyperlink at the stop.
I also made a few easy Map Luminary luggage (see here) with the street maps for a suitable New Years Party ornament.
