I discovered this ceramic Christmas tree ultimate summer season at a yard sale.
It had a crimson pearl end.
It was grimy.
It had terrifi blue lights – not!
But it was simplest a $1.50.
It became also dirty!
The first order of commercial enterprise was getting the ones blue lighting out. Some of them were unfastened and came right out, however most of them have been glued-in. I became a bit worried approximately breaking them, but, I were given out the vice grips and started twisting.
I’m happy to document that each one of them came out with a touch encouragement. A few broke, however the small pieces popped right out.
The tree went into the sink for an excellent scrubbing and got here out looking like this:
Ceramic trees are very famous right now. I’ve even seen reproductions of the originals. Since I turned into in no way a large fan of the inexperienced ones with multi-colored lighting fixtures, I decided this one could be white. Off to the paint stash I went in which I located a can of matte white spray paint – with primer!
Outside it went for paint on a bit of cardboard, but my favorite element become striking it upside-right down to get all of the nooks and crannies:
Two coats later, I had a white tree (and base…I forgot to take pictures of that!)
Originally I turned into going to offer it a satin end, but I observed I really appreciated the matte end. I also concept I desired to sponge a few gold paint on the rims of the branches, however after I did, I truly failed to find it irresistible. This was a case of ‘much less is extra’.
I wanted clear lights for the tree. After looking on-line, I located them and that they were right here in a couple of days. In they went…
I grabbed a few batting that I had, a few pinecones, and clipped some branches from one of the shrubs:
Then I plugged it in:
There needed to be one extra shot as soon as it were given a touch darker:
