I actually have a nice assortment of timber scraps, many are weathered privateness fence. I grabbed a 1×4 I located at the back of my shed once I bought the house in 2016, and a scrap of 1×6 from any other undertaking. If you don’t have a stash of weathered wooden, you could without problems do this with ‘Barnwood’ from Home Depot and many others.

I cut some random lengths and lined them up side through side. One of them cut up so I put the halves on each give up ; ) I drew a line throughout they all. My ink pen wasn’t as much as the mission I guess, it truly is why I ignored a few.

I stained the 1×6 and let it dry 20 min however forgot to take a % – my apologies. I pre-drilled holes ea (except one hole for the quit pieces) and connected to the 1×6 scrap with No 6 x 1 1/four drywall screws.

Here’s the shelf equipped for hardware. Not crazy about the redwood stain but I thought I’d supply it a try. I like the figure inside the pine anyway.

I connected two frame brackets. I virtually did this twice!!! … But pulled out the small nails/brads retaining one among them in, so I went again with diff brackets and delivered more than one spare screws to ensure they wouldn’t pull out. I didn’t get these ‘targeted’ so there may be an additional step or underneath.

Mark the middle of your shelf, and measure to every facet for dimensions to area your wall hardware

I located the center of my wall space, and the use of the preceding dimensions, marked both L and R for where I’d cling my shelf. I use an extended phillips bit proper into the drywall, no everyday drill bit needed. (in case you hit a stud, simply positioned a screw there!)

I then used my cordless drill to run in a plastic drywall anchor

Install a screw into the drywall anchor, leaving just enough of the panhead for the hangers to seize onto

And right here’s the finished product. All in all, with my current hardware and stain on-hand I beat the W*****r rate with the aid of about $108 .
